Geography
Melattur Grama Panchayat is situated in Perinthalmanna Taluk of Malappuram District, Kerala and forms part of Perinthalmanna Block Panchayat. The Panchayat is located in the eastern part of Malappuram District. The official Kerala Local Self Government Department lists Melattur among the Grama Panchayats under Perinthalmanna Block.
According to the Kerala State Land Use Board's district-level report, Melattur Grama Panchayat has a geographical area of approximately 13.37 sq. km (1,336.95 hectares) and had 16 wards in that source. The same source records the Panchayat as being bounded by Vettathur, Keezhattur and Alanallur towards the south; Keezhattur and Edappatta towards the north; Keezhattur towards the west; and Alanallur towards the east.
The 2011 Census-based figures record a population of 27,250, comprising 12,974 males and 14,276 females, with 5,548 households.
