All beneficiaries whose pension was sanctioned on or before 31 December 2025 are required to complete the mandatory Mustering at any Akshaya Centre between 17 July 2026 and 31 October 2026.

Kudumbashree is a people-oriented movement that has made a significant contribution to the social empowerment of women and poverty eradication in Kerala. Its main objective is to improve the quality of life of rural families by enhancing women's economic self-reliance and social participation. Kudumbashree functions with the active participation of Local Self-Government Institutions.

📌 1. Origin and Basic Information

The Government of Kerala launched Kudumbashree on 17 May 1998 as the State Poverty Eradication Mission. Kudumbashree works in coordination with Local Self-Government Institutions with the objectives of women empowerment and poverty eradication.

1Neighbourhood Group
NHG – Neighbourhood Group 		The basic unit of Kudumbashree. It is generally a group of 15 to 20 women from a locality. Savings, loans, weekly meetings and collective activities are carried out at the Neighbourhood Group level.
2ADS
Area Development Society 		A ward-level committee that coordinates the Neighbourhood Groups within a ward. It plays an important role in ward-level development activities and social interventions.
3CDS
Community Development Society 		The higher-level implementation committee at the Grama Panchayat level. It coordinates all ADSs in the Panchayat and implements various development programmes in cooperation with the Grama Panchayat administration.
🎯 3. Major Activities of Kudumbashree

01. 👩 Women Empowerment 

Ensuring the social, economic and political empowerment of women and developing leadership skills for active participation in public life.

02. 🤝 Self-Help Groups (NHG) 

Formation of Neighbourhood Groups and effective implementation of weekly thrift savings, loan repayment and collective activities.

03. 💼 Self-Employment Enterprises 

Providing technical and financial support for starting small businesses, catering units, manufacturing units, marketing activities and other enterprises at individual and group levels.

04. 🏠 Poverty Eradication 

Identifying extremely poor and vulnerable families, providing them with special livelihood programmes and social security support, and improving their quality of life.

05. 🌱 Livelihood Development 

Creating sustainable employment opportunities in agriculture, dairy development, animal husbandry, traditional product manufacturing and service sectors.

06. 💰 Financial Inclusion 

Ensuring access to financial services such as bank-linked loans, microfinance and subsidy schemes for beneficiaries.

07. 🌾 Agricultural Activities 

Promoting agricultural activities such as fallow land cultivation, organic vegetable production, nutrition gardens and JLG group farming.

08. 🧹 Social Development Activities 

Actively participating in social interventions such as healthcare, sanitation, nutrition, gender awareness and anti-drug activities.

09. 🎓 Training and Skill Development 

Providing vocational skill training to young women and women and helping them find self-employment and develop income-generating opportunities.

10. 🏛️ Local Self-Government Coordination 

Actively participating in the Grama Panchayat's annual plans, development seminars, Grama Sabhas and other activities to strengthen participatory planning and development.
